Review highlights
Based on 1,818 reviewsTaso's Bar Grill Hazelwood is widely recognized for its consistently high-quality food and well-prepared dishes, with particular praise for standout items like their hand-cut chips. The restaurant strikes a welcoming balance between a cozy grill and an energetic bar atmosphere, enhanced further by recent upgrades such as an expanded upstairs area to accommodate growing weekend crowds. Guests frequently note the friendly and skilled staff, especially highlighting attentive bartenders and proactive service. However, service experiences can vary, with some patrons reporting slower or less attentive waitstaff, particularly during busy periods. Overall, Taso's Bar Grill Hazelwood maintains a strong reputation for excellent food, a vibrant yet comfortable setting, and generally commendable service, making it a favored spot for both casual dining and social gatherings in Pretoria.
I really enjoyed the food, hats off to the chef (s). The food was well cooked and presented. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed, not sure if it was him who was slow due to having a lot of tables or if the kitchen and bar were overwhelmed with orders. Other than the slow service, the food was really good. I am unable to comment on the atmosphere though it was packed, I was sitting outside close to another restaurant pumping their music high.
Always great visiting this restaurant. I‘ve been here several times. Their food and drinks never disappoints. Great cocktails! You are always welcomed by friendly smiling happy faces! The service is really amazing. Our waiter even impressed us by taking our big order without writing it down and brought the whole order without anything missing. He was also proactive, polite and caring. We enjoyed our meals and look forward to our next visit.
The Hand-Cut Chips Are Legendary! This was my first-ever visit to Taso's Bar and Grill in Hazelwood, and honestly, I was completely blown away. They certainly left a brilliant first impression! We arrived just in time for lunch, and thankfully, they had a table available right away. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, hitting that perfect sweet spot between a cozy grill and a lively bar. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was not only friendly but also incredibly efficient. He was attentive without being overbearing, ensuring our drinks were always topped up—we never had to wave him down, which is a rare treat these days. Now, for the main event: the food! I opted for the chicken prego, and it was simply delicious and wonderfully juicy. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the flavour of the prego sauce was spot on. But I have to dedicate a whole sentence to the chips. Seriously, the hand-cut chips here are really the best chips I have had in a very, very long time. They were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and tasted authentically fresh. They deserve all the praise! I will highly recommend Taso's to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a super lunch spot in Hazelwood. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu!
I wasn’t happy with the service at all the waitress wasn’t attentive we don’t even know her name we didn’t even know the special of the day, we had to ask her she wasn’t enthusiastic at all
I'm so impressed with upgrades at Tasos in Hazelwood, Pretoria! The new upstairs area is a fantastic addition. It also becomes especially busy over the weekends, so extra space is necessary. Our experience is always top-notch, also thanks to our friendly and skilled barman, Leo. His cocktail-making skills are unmatched! The service at Tasos is consistently great, and the menu offers a wide variety of options to suit all tastes. While some items may seem a bit pricey, I believe the quality of food, service, and atmosphere justifies the cost, and it's also to be expected at Hazelwood. The quality of food and ingredients are high! Tasos is an excellent choice for celebrating special occasions or simply enjoying an outing with friends. The extensive drinks menu and delicious food ensure there's something for everyone.
Was there for a group lunch. We seated at the upper deck and had some privacy. The food was delicious so were the drinks. It is a lovely and lively atmosphere. Ate the Bluecheese and bacon burger with fries.
Had my daughters 21st upstairs at Tasos. Shane and team went beyond our expectations . Communication and clarity was superb. We opted for build your own platters and everything was delicious and ample. They were so accommodating in everything (they even helped us put up fairy lights) . Upstairs was ours for the day and we had hours before even to decorate and move tables and chairs around as we pleased, with the staffs help. Thank you Shane and team for a job well done with smiles on your faces.
The best steak I've had in a while, super fresh and tasty. Thank Richard for the awesome service also.
